Plumber in Metairie, LA

C.T. Traina works out of 4414 Flamingo Street in Metairie. We handle plumbing, sewer and drain, heating, air conditioning, welding, and mechanical contracting for homes and commercial buildings across Jefferson Parish. Louisiana Master Plumber license LMP #499.

We are not a franchise dispatching trucks into Metairie from somewhere else. Our shop is here, our people live here, and most of what we work on we have seen a hundred times in this parish specifically.

What breaks in Metairie, and why

Plumbing here fails in patterns that have more to do with Jefferson Parish ground than with anything the homeowner did.

Slab leaks and subsidence

Most of Metairie sits on slab-on-grade construction over soil that keeps settling. When a slab shifts, the supply lines cast into it get stressed at the joints. The tell is a warm spot on the floor, a water bill that jumped with no change in habits, or the sound of running water when everything is off. We locate these before anyone starts breaking concrete.

Cast iron and galvanized lines reaching the end

Houses built here through the middle of the last century went in with cast iron drains and galvanized supply. Both have a service life, and in much of Old Metairie, Bucktown, and the Airline corridor that service life is up. Cast iron scales shut from the inside and eventually cracks along the bottom. Galvanized closes up until pressure drops at the far fixtures. Recurring backups in an older house are usually the pipe, not the clog.

Roots in clay sewer laterals

Older laterals were clay tile with joints every few feet, and the live oaks that make these neighborhoods worth living in send roots straight into them. We cut and clear roots, camera the line, and tell you honestly whether you are looking at a maintenance interval or a replacement.

Humidity load on air conditioning

Systems here run harder and longer than the same equipment would almost anywhere else, and they spend the summer pulling water out of the air. Condensate lines clog, pans overflow into ceilings, and units sized for a different climate short cycle. AC work in this parish is as much about moisture as it is about temperature.

Backflow testing in Jefferson Parish

Commercial properties and many irrigation systems here need an annual backflow prevention assembly test by a certified tester, with the results filed. We test, we certify, and we handle the paperwork so it does not land back on you. If you are getting notices about a device you did not know you had, call us and we will figure out what is on the property.

What we do

Where we work

Metairie is home, and we cover the surrounding parish and the metro area from here: Old Metairie, Bucktown, Fat City, Airline Park, Bonnabel, Elmwood, Harahan, River Ridge, Kenner, Jefferson, Gretna, Marrero, Westwego, and into New Orleans including Lakeview, Mid City, and Uptown. Commercial and industrial work reaches further out. If you are not sure whether you are in range, call and ask.

Commercial work in Jefferson Parish

A good portion of what we do is not houses. We maintain plumbing and mechanical systems for offices, restaurants, retail, medical buildings, and industrial facilities around the parish, including preventive maintenance contracts, hydrojetting, grease line service, backflow certification, and custom fabrication when an off the shelf part does not exist. If you manage a building and you are tired of calling a different contractor for every trade, that is the gap we fill.
